Fortnite Battle Royale unexpectedly took off in terms of popularity not long after it launched, but this wasn't what Epic Games had planned out initially. Save the World was supposed to be the main Fortnite game mode, but it was put on a back burner as it didn't have as many active players. However, it is still a fun game mode that many players might want to try out.

This guide will show Fortnite players how they can play Save the World and point out every perk of doing so; this way, they can decide if the game is meant for them or not.

How to Play Save the World

Save the World was supposed to go free-to-play once Fortnite left early access, but this was not the case. So, even though the game officially fully launched back in June 2020, it is still only available for those who buy it.

Players can purchase Save the World by acquiring the Natural Constructor Pack in the Special Items & Bundles section of the Fortnite Item Shop for $18.49. Alternatively, it is also available on the official Save the World website and the Epic Games Store. The Natural Constructor PAck will eventually become unavailable, as Save the World packs are replaced once a new Battle Royale season starts.

Here is what players will get out of the Natural Constructor Pack in Fortnite:

• Save the World access
• Carey skin
• LEGO style for the Carey skin
• Drone Dock back bling
• Clamp Hammer pickaxe
• Carey Challenges (access to a maximum of 1,500 V-Bucks from Daily Quests in Save the World)

Save the World is also not available on the same platforms as Fortnite Battle Royale; gamers can only play Save the World on PC, Xbox, or Playstation - it's not available on Switch or mobile. Players who player on other platforms can still acquire the pack, but they will have to log into through another device in order to play Save the World.

Is Save the World Worth It?

While the art style has some similarities, Save the World is quite different from the Battle Royale game mode, as it's a strategic base defense zombie game. The player will team up with other gamers in a PvE match to complete missions and unlock more worlds and gear. Each player also has their own home base that they must defend against the horde and the storm. To defend their base they'll have to build, place traps, get the best weapons they can find, and hire survivors that they meet as they progress through the main story.

Since Fortnite Battle Royale gets most of the attention from the developers, at first Save the World can be fun, but unfortunately, it can get tedious for some after a while, as the missions as repetitive and the events are rarely ever updated.

Can You Unlock V-Bucks by Playing Save the World?

Before Save the World left early access, many purchased the Founder's Pack to get V-Bucks for Battle Royale; they could do this through daily login rewards, daily missions, and the collection book.

Players who are returning to the game after a while but own Founder's Pack will be disappointed to learn that they can no longer unlock V-Bucks simply by logging in or doing the collection book; these features have been removed, so now Founders can only unlock V-Bucks if they complete the daily missions. Players who bought the game after it left early access won't have access to any V-Bucks at all, except for those included in the Natural Constructor Pack.

In the past few years, it has gotten much harder to get XP in Fortnite and complete the Battle Pass, so even though Save the World doesn't grant V-Bucks anymore, and it has gotten significantly harder for Founders to get any at all, this is still a great way to improve one's Battle Royale level. What many fans might not be aware is the fact that completing Save the World missions grant tons of Battle Royale XP, so it's a great way to level up fast in Fortnite and complete the Battle Pass.

It's subjective whether Save the World is worth playing or not. It all depends on the player, the type of games they enjoy, and what they intend to get out of it. Here is what fans will get out of Save the World in 2023:
